We originally set out for Panera Bread but they were out of soup. So
ended up at Biryani Bowl in Fremont.
Very busy place but the place smells of good food. Maybe because all
of us are hungry. We will find out in a short while.
Double Tripod Antenna

Reused our old dish antenna tripod base to raise my home made dipole
tripod antenna. The reception is much better.
Just talked to 3 stations all outside the US. I think the last one was
in Zanzibar.
Out flying

Just finished a 1.5 hr flight after about two months. Picture taken
right around the woodside VOR, before calling palo alto tower over
Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
Chilled out

This is the chilled out position she loves to be in and then sleeps
off most of the time.
This also helps her with the colic problem.

One month old already

Our baby girl is one month old today. She loves to stare at bright
lights. Has no fear of loud banging sounds but gets startled with the
slightest ting from the kitchen downstairs.
She loves listening to music, is a quiet baby in the absence of
hunger, colic and a dirty diaper. Kicks a lot trying to push herself
up. Loves to hang out on my shoulder with hers arms dangling out
towards my back.
Tomorrow is her first month doctor’s appointment and she will get her
first immunization shots. We are bracing for any after effects she
might have.

Came home for lunch and received it myself. Fedex is swamped with
apple deliveries again. 
It’s a shame I won’t have time till the weekend to put it on.

At the doctors’ last week

This was taken last thursday on 8/20/09. Her growth has been on
target. She weighs 7lbs 13ounces, a 5 ounce increase in a week.

Palo alto airport has this awesome spot right next to the runway. On
the way back from SFO we stopped for a while eating home cooked
parathas and watching airplanes.
Dad is glued to the seat.
11 days old

She is 11 days old already and her diet has almost doubled. Trouble is
that now she gulps in milk so fast that she chokes herself most of the
time.
And of course, she still falls asleep half way through the feeding
session. She has started smiling a lot and stirs a lot in her sleep.
Feeding Simi

Feeding Simi is about an hour’s work, every 3 hours.
We have managed to work out an approximate schedule which we keep
adapting based on how she responds.
It starts with her waking up, pooping, crying. We change the diper,
she poops again. Change diper again. Then the feeding session starts.
Depending on her mood, either bottled milk first or mom’s fresh feed.
She does NOT like slow drips. Then she sleeps off about half way
through. Find new places to tickle her to wake up, which she gets used
to within 2 feeding sessions and ignores you completely.
Then a burping session after every source change. About 80% through,
she goes into what the nurses called "food coma". No amount of
pestering can wake her after that. Her limbs go control-less. Burping
her is a challenge then.
Once that is done, watch her for burping with spits and then swaddle
her back in bed.
Head back and pump more milk as a backup for the next feeding session
and wait for her to wake up.
Life could not be better.

1 week old and at home

Our baby doll is one week old. Got a surprise call this morning from
the hospital that we could take her home in the morning instead of
late evening.
This pic was taken in the ICU after feeding her twice between which
she pooped twice and wanted more food. Her appitite has doubled in the
past week.
3 days old and growing

Baby Simi is 3 days old. Mom’s progress is good too. 2 oz this time!!
Mom’s staples will come off today hopefully. Baby is still in the ICU
but with good progress. She has been a little fussy about feeding but
her drip is now off so no painful IV anymore.
